TPC at Sawgrass is one of the most pictureesque golf courses in all of the PGA Tour and it is the site of the 2012 Players Championship, which kicked off today in Pontre Vedra Beach, FL. When it comes to golf, the first major question in all tournaments is, how is Tiger doing? Well, he’s struggling again and he put up a 2-over 74 today, which has him tied for 100th and on the verge of missing the cut in back-to-back tournaments. With how the rest of the field is doing, Woods will have to shoot in the red tomorrow in order to be still swinging on Saturday and Sunday. Woods was held out of the last two days of the tournament last week at the Wells Fargo Championship, when he shot an even par on the first two days.
Sharing the lead after day one of the Players is Ian Poulter and Martin Laird with their 7-under 65′s. Laird had a bogie free round, racking up 3 birdies on the front-9 and 4 birdies on the back-9. Poulter had one blemish on his card with a bogie on the 7th hole but he birdied the next 4 out of 5 holes to help lead him to his 65. Check out the highlights from round 1 below:
